Nine is a divine number. My way of remembering the spiritual roles trans people have held in past civilizations.
Each piece is wheelthrown. Hand-trimmed into 9 points. Then each girl is hand painted on. These specific plates were then wood-fired over days. The kiln was fed morning and night, every few minutes as a community by trans and queer artist up in Mendocino. The ash in the fire naturally created a glaze over part of the plate.Shells were used to stack the plates, their existence permanently imprinted onto them now
6.5” wide
Decorative, not food safe
Each piece is one a kind as the fire can only be controlled so much.
